Chapter 7: You Never Know Who’s Watching

Bible reading: Ruth 2:4-5

And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you. And they answered him, The Lord bless thee.

Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

Chosen Notes From Chapter:

  • “Live your life in such a way that if someone lied about you, no one would believe it.”- based on 1 Peter 2:12
  • How you respond often reveal whether there is any validity in the accusations waged against you.
  • You cannot control who judges you, but you can be responsible for portraying the most authentic version of yourself. It doesn’t stop the judgment, but it allows others to see your truth whether they like it or not.
  • When you remain true to your values and carry yourself with dignity, then others can talk allthey want, Your truth will trump their misperceptions.
  • You never know what giving up on yourself teaches others about you. Be careful, especially in trials, to govern your actions with grace and hope.
  • Ruth’s graceful tenacity made Boaz sit up and take notice. She wasn’t like everyone else. She was her own woman.
  • Be careful how you handle this storm; you never know who’s watching.

Questions to Ask Yourself:

  1. Who is someone you currently admire? Why? What is it about them that has earned your respect?
  2. How has their journey affected your own?
  3. What would someone learn about you if they saw you in your weakest moment?
  4. If you are the only reflection of Christ that people see, would He be pleased with how you represent Him?
